Winter Party FAQ’s

You are probably all looking forward to the Winter Party that’s coming up. In order to help with your queries, here are some frequently asked questions that can hopefully help you. If you can’t find the answers to your questions here then drop us an email – StaffParties@emap.com 

Q – What’s on the menu?

A –Starter:
London Burrata (V)
Isle of wight tomato, seeded crisp bread, balsamic basil

Main:
Roast breast of Cornish hen
Roasted shallot, parsnip puree, pommes Anna, tarragon sauce

Aubergine Milanese (VG)
Pan fried gnocchi, pea pesto, spiced tomato sauce
Available via pre-order only through providing dietary requirements

Dessert Station:
Create ‘Jaffa Cake’
Chocolate sponge, orange and mandarin compote, pink grapefruit, chocolate soil

Apple and blackberry crumble cake
Apple mousse, cinnamon, blackberry compote

Q – Should I work in the office on the day?
A – We recommend working from home on the day or the event. However, if you need to be in the office due to a deadline etc please go ahead.

Q – Should I bring laptop etc to the venue? 
A – We recommend, if possible, you leave your laptop at home to avoid any risk of damage or mislaying it but please discuss with your line manager.

Q – What stations are close?
A – Monument Station (4 min walk), Fenchurch Street Station (7 min walk), London Bridge Station (11 min walk).

Q – How will I get there? 
A – The venue is The Vaults, 1 Old Billingsgate Walk (Riverside), 16 Lower Thames Street, London, EC3R 6DX. We suggest you use Google Maps etc to find your best route. 

Q – Can I claim back the cost of travel there and back? 
A – Yes, you can, in the usual way for a business event via an expense claim. The claim amount, is as usual, the lower cost of either your travel from home or travel from your office to the venue. (For someone based in Fleet Street office, that’s £4.20 on public transport there and back and for someone in Croydon office that’s £10.20 there and back. Unless your travel from home is less in which case you should claim that).

Q – Will there be a later start the next day (Wednesday 18 December)? 
A – Yes, unless you need to start earlier or have deadlines to meet, the start time for those heading into the office on Wed 18th will be 10am. For those who would like to work from home, please ensure you have agreed this with your manager in advance.

Q – Should I dress smart? 
A – Yes, this is a sit-down dinner, please note there is a dress up option of Old Hollywood Glam.

Q – Should I wait until the last minute until accepting the invite? 
A – No, the organisers need to confirm food and drink orders, so please accept the invite as soon as you can.

Q – Will it be a late night? 
A – That is up to you. The dinner will start circa 19:15, the venue will be open until 00:30.  

Q – What’s the theme of the celebration? 
A – The theme is Old Hollywood Glam.

Q – Who will be attending? 
A – We are inviting all colleagues from all offices so Croydon, Fleet Street, Bolton, Dublin, Chester, so all employees and freelancers who are on the payroll. 

Q – Should I arrive fashionably late? 
A – No, the drinks reception will begin sharply at 18:30, with dinner following shortly behind.

Q – Is attendance compulsory? 
A – No, it’s not. However, we hope everyone will come along to enjoy meeting colleagues from across the business and have some fun. If you don’t attend, you should work as usual from home or office as appropriate.
