Huge milestone for Record Collector Magazine

We have some fantastic news to share this week, as one of our consumer titles, Record Collector, is celebrating their 45th anniversary.

Launched in September 1979, with the first issue that month, this means that, of all the many monthly music magazines on the shelves, Record Collector is now, officially, the one that has endured the longest. Each month the magazine spans 50 years of music history, covering every era and every genre – pop, rock, psychedelia, soul, rock & roll, reggae, soundtracks – and more.

Over the years, Record Collector has used expert writers from around the world to present fascinating features, news, reviews, interviews, valuations and advice every month. With thousands of records and other musical items advertised in every issue, Record Collector is the leading forum for all dealers, buyers and sellers of music collectables.

To celebrate this historic occasion, Record Collector have a bumper edition, with 32 extra pages, and a whole bunch of articles prompted by their 45th anniversary, such as: Stars On 45s, in which 45 musicians rave about their all-time favourite single! A select discography of the rarest 45 singles of RC’s lifetime! A History Of The 45! And our 8-page record shopping special where they send their intrepid reporter to a variety of outlets – charity shop, record fair, independent, megastore – armed, in each case, with £45, to discover which offers the best value.

It’s great to see Record Collector standing the test of time over the years as the music industry has been ever changing. Huge shout out to the whole team on Record Collector, past and present, for making the brand what it is today. Happy 45th Anniversary!
