Commenting on the results, Martin Quinn emap 5050 Lead said, “It is truly magnificent to see the commitment of the editors to make a change and find and highlight more female and diverse voices to reflect their industries and readership”
Nina Goswami, BBC Creative Diversity Lead for 50:50 The Equality Project, says: “To see the impact 50:50 is having across emap titles is nothing short of astonishing. Some of your titles are covering industries where women’s voices are not often heard, and at emap you are changing that. I believe the work you are doing will help create change in those industries by giving voice to opinions that may not otherwise be heard. I hope everyone at emap are truly proud of what they’re achieving.”
Tim Davie, BBC Director-General, says: “The 50:50 Project continues to enrich BBC’s content with new voices, helping us to reflect the audiences we serve. With our external partners, we are now also seeing a real impact beyond the BBC on a global scale. I encourage any organisations interested in taking up the challenge to get involved.”
Drapers acting editor Jill Geoghegan said: “As the voice of the fashion retail industry, we take our responsibilities in representation and commitment to the 50:50 project seriously.
“Our International Women’s Day content and Challenge Month is highlighting the contribution of female professionals to business. Participation in 50:50 gives us a benchmark from which the industry can work to make women leaders more visible, which in turn will have the effect of attracting and including talent from a more diverse range of demographics.”
Robert Marr, emap CEO commented
“We are proud of the success of emap brands taking part in the 50:50 Equality Project and of the work being done, working together with the industries we serve, to support positive change and give women a stronger voice.”
